I have always loved making things and was creative as I grew up on a small farm in Nebraska. I joined the Navy five years after graduation from high school, but as my career took off there wasn’t much time to develop my creative side. In 1996, after a rather hard sea tour, I walked into a rubber stamp store and the person working behind the counter demonstrated how to stamp and emboss and I was instantly hooked. I immediately signed up for classes and within a year I was teaching classes at a local store in San Diego.
I’ve taught a variety of classes including stamping on terra cotta pots, domino wire art necklaces, style stone pins and various card classes. Over the years I have continued taking classes and have been influenced by many talented artists. With each class I’ve added a new dimension to my art work. It is my belief that my art reflects my structured background. It has been hard for me to break the rules and color outside the lines, but I am actively changing that mindset.
After retiring from the military my husband and I traveled extensively the first year and in between trips I hung out in my craft room creating. Then my dream job fell into my lap and I started working at a rubber stamp store that had just opened. It was such a great job because I was exposed to so many talented artists and met and talked with so many gifted, creative people. I am stretching my creativity every day, exploring new mediums and love to pass on what I’ve learned to others.
My husband, Wayne and I live in San Diego, Ca.
